Shovel Knight is 100% funded with all stretch goals met

Well color me embarrassed.  Here I am thinking the game won’t reach the $145k mark, and it does well over $300k.  In my article about the stretch goals, I didn’t think it was possible for the game to reach $145k.  I was fully expecting the Kickstarter to wrap up at the New Game+ stretch goal ($100k) and that was maybe the tops.  Not because I didn’t think the game was any good (I’m a backer myself), but because I didn’t fully understand the power of Kickstarter and the Internet.  This was my first Kickstarter that I donated to, and I think it is incredible that so many people backed the game and they were able to unlock all the stretch goals.

If you look at the right-hand side of the screen you can see the true power of the Internet.  Not only is the game funded, but we are now getting all these cool extras because we reached the $300k mark.  I’m so excited that not only am I getting more for my money, I am even more excited that this game really is going to completely and utterly awesome.

I think the fact that Yacht Club Games was at PAX East 2013 demoing the game didn’t hurt, but I also think the team really wants to make this game a success.  I know I haven’t really checked out many Kickstarters, but the team has done an incredible job making you want to back their project.  They provided countless updates on the game (well ok 19 to be exact), provided encouragement to back them further through stretch goals, and were just completely open about the project through livestreams and animation demos.

I’m excited this game is funded and the fact that all the stretch goals will be included.  I’ll be enjoying my copy on 3DS in the future and here’s hoping Yacht Club Games success in their future endeavors and that Shovel Knight is an 8-bit epic.
