If you have had an iPad for a while now and keep a good eye on the games that they offer, chances are that you have seen " Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP ". Even iPhone owners may be aware of it as it eventually made its way to that platform as well. But alas, those of us not within the Apple fold were not to be allowed access to this creative dive into art and sound.
That is, of course, until now. It seems that it has finally stepped out of the Apple world and comes to the PC. As of yesterday, Steam posted S:S&S on their site for purchase . And to make the deal even sweeter, they are offering the hauntingly beautiful soundtrack by Canadian singer/songwriter Jim Guthrie as part of the $7.99 price (on sale for $5.99 until 04/23).
Now before you run off and get it (which is what you should have been planning to do anyways) let me make one thing clear, this is not a regular game. If anything, it resembles a digital marriage of art, ideas and sound (in my opinion) more than anything else. And while it is a game, do not go in expecting some form of RPS with leveling and items, or some intricate plot that winds you through the lives of unforgettable characters, or even something that will give you endless hours of gameplay in an open virtual world. S:S&S is its own creature and does not try to be anything other than the experience that it is. And with an $8 ($6) pricetag, with a soundtrack included, it is hard to really go wrong. I hope that you buy it and enjoy it.
