So Yacht Club Games, the maker of the hit retro title Shovel Knight, revealed something that a lot of big name game studios would never do. They actually fully detailed out the process and how much money it took to build Shovel Knight and what their sales expectations were. It is quite an awesome article and I highly suggest you check it out. It’s amazing how one game can cost so much but be so rewarding in the end. It really is a labor of love for some of these guys to make these games and I personally appreciate their hard work and dedication to make this game the best it can be.
If this transparency isn’t enough for you to run out and support Yacht Club Games, I highly suggest going out and trying Shovel Knight regardless. The game is very well made and definitely worth the time if you like retro style/NES games. It is a little more forgiving than most retro style games however so don’t let that scare you away from it.
