I really wish this was a joke but sadly it's real. PETA, aka the People Eating Tasty Animals (hah), have setup a mini-website to say that while the Tanooki suit is all fun and games, tanukis in real life are getting skinned alive. They even setup a flash game on their website to save the skin of a tanuki from a flying blood covered Mario. Apparently by Mario wearing a Tanooki suit he is advocating the murder of these raccoon dogs. If this is advocating the murder of raccoon dogs I really feel bad about those frog suits I was commandeering in Mario 3...
UPDATE: Apparently PETA had a backlash from the gaming community and they have issued a statement to Eurogamer stating that it was "just a joke". They also claim that they are huge Mario fans as well. It is just me or do I not buy that this was a joke? I have a feeling this was just a typical PETA campaign gone bad. Sorry PETA, clearly nobody got your joke...

What do you get when you combine the tropes of sports talk radio with the characters from science fiction and fantasy? You get the Fantasy Sports League.
Conceived as an inside joke between internet superstars Tom Merritt and Justin Robert Young, the Fantasy Sports League features a series of podcasts where Merritt and Young perform a fake sports talk show about a league that features such teams as the Mordor Crows and the Vulcan Velocity. If you're a sports fan and a geek, it's some great entertainment.

Are you a fan of Star Fox? Do you like Google easter eggs? Well then you're in luck. Go to Google and type in "do a barrell roll" and enjoy! Thanks Google for making my day with this one. This is definitely better than the "miserable failure" I am feeling lucky search of the past.

I think by now we know there is no love lost between me and the Gawker media empire. Recently a story has been racing around the web about Gizmodo's most recent shenanigans. I'm obviously not linking to the Gizmodo story, but here's the brief summary.

While not entirely as earth-shaking as Steve Jobs' resignation, another major geek celebrity is stepping out of the spotlight. Rob Malda, founder of Slashdot and known on the site as CmdrTaco, has announced that he is stepping down from daily operations with the popular website.
Before Digg or Reddit, Slashdot pioneered tech- and geek-related news with a democratic editing system. Malda is moving on to a job with Google.

Our favorite neurotic healer has an profile article written about her in Forbes Magazine, and as she says on Google Plus, "My Dad will be proud."
The profile does a good job of following Day from the start of her career through her idea for starting The Guild up to her present day success and the upcoming Dragon Age: Redemption shorts. One interesting tidbit - prior to starting The Guild Day says she had been typecast as "the quirky secretary" and her writing venture enabled her to branch out and obtain the success she's had today.
While the internet isn't a world where people are just dying to hand you money, if you hustle like Day, Jonathan Coulton, Wil Wheaton, and Gary Vaynerchuk, you can do what you love and make a career of it.
Jason Alexander takes a moment to tell us about the worst tragedy of 2011 - the Netflix Price Hike.
Those plucky Taiwanese animators are at it again in their take on the recent Supreme Court decision regarding game sales laws. I'll let this one speak for itself.
Taiwanese news agency NWA, most famous for their animation of the Tiger Woods accident, has provided their take on the LulzSec hacking extravaganza that we've talked about.
I don't think there's a better depiction of the essence of 4chan and LulzSec than this.
I find myself in a Star Wars mood as of late and that generally coincides with my desire to mess with Lego products. Fortunately, years ago my good friend Ken introduced me to an awesome site that has both components all wrapped up into one. He showed me the From Bricks to Bothans site. So last night found me browsing the posts, reading the reviews and dreaming of my very own Lego workshop. And while on the site, I stumbled across an entry that I wanted to share with the our readers...
