If you play World of Warcraft (WoW) and like to watch the machinima that comes from its many dedicated fans, you are probably familiar with the Illegal Danish series by Myndflame. The series started back in 2005, during “vanilla” WoW, with Zinwrath The Movie. It is a strange film that is hard enough to understand if you are a WoW player and most likely downright lunacy if you are not. Despite its weird portrayal of life within the WoW universe, it was well done and gained a fanbase quickly. So much so, in fact, that Myndflame released the second (and my favorite) entry in the series a year later: Illegal Danish Super Snacks. It is a much cleaner and better executed video, from the acting to the editing. “C’mon baby, I got Blessing of Protection!” In 2008, almost two years later with many delays and much hype, came the third entry: Illegal Danish Escape from Orgrimmar. Once again, Myndflame took things up a notch and produced an impressive piece of media. Well, it seems that they are not going to stop there…

In 2009 they released the trailer for their fourth entry in the series, Illegal Danish 3 (the title for now at least). It is impressively well done. So much so, that I wanted to share it with the wonderful readers of our site. We may be waiting for a while, but it could be worth it. We will see…eventually.

If you are a fan of the StarCraft franchise, you will quickly recognize it as a parody of the first StarCraft 2 cinematic trailer. If there is any doubt, here is a side-by side comparison.

Yes No I had forgotten what a mess the last release was. Hopefully they learned from it and beef up the distribution when it comes out. I must admit that, while I do like the whole series, I was disappointed in the third one in comparison to the hype. I am hoping this one will be worth the wait. Lets just hope that they don't fully emulate StarCraft with regards to time between trailer release and actual product release.

Yes No ZOMG! I wonder if the server will crash upon release, just like last time. All the hype for the last one and they were going to release it new years at mid-night. BOOM! Crash.

Yes No I dunno - I think the hype-to-content ratio on Mindflayme is pretty high, although when I go to their site it appears they have been producing a lot more content recently.
