Although Star Wars fans have been loathe to admit it, George Lucas has always made it clear that he believes that the movies are intended to be family films and thus have content for all ages.  Recently Lucasfilm released a "kids featurette" trailer that - well, I can't really describe it.

Presumably this is intended to run during kids' programming and get the kids to beg Mom and Dad to drop another $15 a person on a movie in the Star Wars franchise.  The rest of us will just cry ourselves to sleep.

Bob Anderson, a former Olympic fencer for Britain and movie sword master, has passed away at the age of 89.  The role that most people saw Anderson in - although few actually knew it - was as Darth Vader in most of the fight scenes in the Star Wars movies.

I don't know about you, but I have been a Muppets fan since I was a young kid.  Starting off with the Muppet Show, moving onto the various Muppet movies, the Muppets 3D show at Disney Hollywood Studios, and let's not forget the Muppet Babies.  Luckily for me, the latest film paid a real homage to the Muppets and was a heart-felt trip down memory lane.  The Muppets, which currently sits at 98% fresh on RottenTomatoes.com, is the first Muppet movie since Muppets From Space came out in 1999 (that I can remember at least...).  If you are a fan of the Muppets, read on to hear some more interesting facts about the Muppets and the latest Muppet movie.

As most everyone knows, the Blu-Ray version of the Star Wars Saga will be released in 6 days. Many people have recently canceled their pre-orders now that the disc contents are known. The news is abuzz about the widespread outcry, especially against one particular change: Darth Vader now saying “No!” twice as he throws the emperor to his death in the climactic scene of Return of the Jedi (watch video). While that is proving to be the final straw for many people in their decision not to purchase this set (as one blogger eloquently explains in this post) it is certainly not the only issue with this release. There are many other technical and aesthetic issues. This has led to a movement to boycott this release.

The Amazon product page is the site of a heated debate. It is being deluged with angry 1-star reviews by people boycotting the release, accompanied by retorts from some people posting 5-star reviews in support of the Blu-Ray release and expressing disdain toward those who are complaining about it. These people for the most part feel that the complaints are nitpicky and not worthy of serious consideration. However, I believe they are worthy of serious consideration.

DAODay

In a followup to a story we posted in February, At San Diego Comic Con, geek goddess Felicia Day stated that Dragon Age: Redemption may be making its way to the web this fall. Day stated that each episode will run six to ten minutes and total time for the series should be about an hour.  Day also stated that each episode will have a beginning, middle, and end, similar to The Guild. We eagerly await the blood-spattered result.

In one of the more boneheaded moves in the entertainment industry, Netflix today announced that they were splitting membership plans DVD and streaming only memberships.   The net result, however, is a higher membership cost to continue with the same access you currently have.
