If you're interested in things to do with game development, check out the Boston GameLoop 2010 at Microsoft NERD in Cambridge on August 28th.

The event is an "unconference," where attendees propose topics and then vote on them prior to the conference starting.  The net result is that the discussion topics center around what the majority of the attendees want to talk about rather than have pre-selected panels.

Last year's conference had about 90 attendees from companies such as Harmonix, Irrational Games, Rockstar New England, and Bethesda Softworks.  It will definitely be an industry-focused working conference rather than a splashy display event - not a place for you to melt into the background per se, but if you're passionate about game development and work in the industry or are going to school for it it, this event sounds like you'll get a ton of meaningful information.
