For the fifth year, the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth is hosting the Formula Hybrid Challenge at New Hampshire Motor Speedway May 1-4. The competition features hybrid and electric racing cars built by undergraduate and graduate engineering students. Thanks to Granite State Geek for getting this story out.

I love these types of events - competitions always get people to think creatively about how to solve a problem, and because the event is sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and major car companies that manufacture hybrid and electric vehicles, it's likely that innovations from this competition will find themselves in production vehicles in the future.

Here's a video from Dartmouth providing an overview of the event.
