If you can't tell, the title of this article is a joke.  Apparently Capcom sent out the intial shipment of Resident Evil: Revelations and there was a typo on the spine.  Instead of Revelations, it is spelled "Revelaitons".  Of course, I pre-ordered the game so I'm pretty sure my copy will have the typo.  If you are getting the game soon, check the spine to see if it is spelled right.  If it is not spelled right, you can call Capcom's customer service line at 650-350-6700 or email them at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and they will send you a new insert for your case.  You might want to hold onto that typo spine as well, as sometimes these copies can be "rare" and sell for higher prices than normal.  You never know what collectors are looking for... :)

According to a user in NeoGAF, Sony Vita's downloadable versions of retail games will be selling for $5 less than the retail price if you choose to download it instead of going to the store.  I'm happy that games will be cheaper to download since it cuts out a lot of work and expenses that Sony will need to do to sell a game at retail, but $5?  It's good but definitely not good enough.  It'll cost you more to get the memory cards to store all the games.  Sony has yet to confirm this news, but the picture seems likely.

Sony is doing a little better in Vita sales in Japan, but they are still losing a little over 4:1 to the 3DS in January.  Sales numbers can be found at Andriasang.  Even more disturbing to me is that the PSP is almost out-selling the Vita in Japan for January and was out-selling the Vita in Japan for December.  You would hope that the newer system would have higher sales than the older system, but maybe the more diverse game selection of the PSP is keeping it more popular.

In other news, Kazuo Hirai will take over as Sony President and CEO after Sony fell behind Apple, Inc and Samsung.  Kaz is well known for his work with the development of the Playstation brand over the years he has been in the company.

You may have remembered Tiny Tower when Matt talked about it in his Budget Gaming Spotlight.  Well I guess imitation is the highly form of flattery because Zynga is making a game called "Dream Heights" and it looks surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) just like Nimblebit's Tiny Tower.  Read on to see a funny message from Nimblebit to Zynga congratulating them on their new game.

As silly as it may seem, Kid Icarus is actually my favorite NES game from back in the day.  You can imagine how happy I was when they announced they were making it a 3D Classics title for the 3DS.  Not only are they remaking the game in 3D with enhanced visuals, the game will be free if you pre-order Kid Icarus: Uprising for 3DS at select retailers.  More to come on which retailers are participating when they are formally announced.

If you live in the UK, you can register 2 select 3DS games before Jan 31st in Club Nintendo and also get the game for free as well (not available to US residents sadly).

I hope Uprising is good... they sure are throwing a lot of free stuff in to get you to buy it (plastic stand, 3D Classics: Kid Icarus).

According to ShackNews, Kid Icarus: Uprising for the 3DS will be sold with a 3DS stand due to the number of complaints Nintendo has received from gamers who have previewed the game.  The game is known for causing pretty severe hand cramping based on the way you need to grip the 3DS to play the game.  The stand was created to alleviate or lessen those issues. On top of that, Kid Icarus: Uprising is Circle Pad Pro compatible as well, so imagine that on the 3DS on this stand.

Insanity.  I would have hoped someone at Nintendo would have taken a step back and said there is an inherent problem with playing the game, and not throw peripherals at it to fix the issue.  Anyone in their right mind could see this is not a solution and just a work-around, but maybe the game is too far along to correct the control issues now (seeing how it has a March 23, 2012 release date and has been delayed countless times).  Also, a stand like this makes the system less "portable"... which is always a bad thing for a portable gaming system.

Razer has been delivering some cutting edge, hardcore gaming peripherals since the 1990’s. The company had a lull around the millennium change but soon surged back into the forefront of cutting edge gaming technology with everything from perfect surface mousepads to backlit keyboards and ultra hi-fidelity optical laser mice with 15 buttons.

Well it took a price drop, but Nintendo's 3DS finally surpassed 4 million units sold in the U.S.  It had a strong holiday season and also is selling like hotcakes because of Super Mario 3D Land (> 1 million units sold) and Mario Kart 7 (> 1 millions units sold).  You can expect the system to continue to sell well with the upcoming games this year: Resident Evil: Revelations, Tales of the Abyss, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater, Animal Crossing 3DS, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario 3DS, Heroes of Ruin, and several others.  Sometimes it pays to be the first handheld system out in a generation.  Let's see if Nintendo can keep fending off Sony's Vita in the long run.

It seems that the 3DS isn't the only handheld system to start off with slow sales.  Despite a lot of Vitas being shipped to the stores in Japan, and despite an "ok" first week of sales, Sony sold only 72,479 units during its second week.  This may have to do with the newfound success of the lower priced 3DS and also might have something to do with the rise in popularity of smartphone gaming.

Sony has no intention to lower the price of the Vita just yet.  Sony's President of Consumer & Products Services, Kazuo Hirai, told Bloomberg earlier this year, "We have a very good product at a very affordable price.  There’s no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game industry decided they were going to."  We'll see if that story changes if they continue to struggle during the crucial holiday sales season.

When people think of Nintendo, they typically think that Nintendo are innovators in the gaming industry.  Whether it is motion control, 3D without glasses, or dual screen systems, Nintendo continues to push the bar in the creativity department.  Then why the heck is Nintendo's first venture into paid/free DLC (downloadable content) starting with the 3DS?  It's not like DLC is something that was just thought of yesterday.

Well it is because Nintendo is always late to the party with many aspects of their systems.  Starting with online gaming, and apparently now with DLC for its systems.  Announced recently, Fire Emblem 3DS will be the first Nintendo title to offer DLC content and Nintendo will also be providing a system update to allow 3rd party publishers to sell DLC for other games as well.  I for one welcome the new DLC and while I am unsure as to whether or not I would get Fire Emblem 3DS, I am happy that Nintendo is finally jumping on the DLC train and allowing others to join in.

You may remember a little while back when I posted that the Vita memory card prices were announced and they were outrageously high.  Well don't expect rock-bottom prices but they are lower across the board.  I think Sony got wind that the customers were not happy with the prices and knew they needed to provide more reasonable prices to be successful.  You can find the prices below and if you want to see the prices of the other accessories and the launch day line-up head on over to the Playstation Blog.
