It’s no secret I am very much looking forward to getting my talons deep into Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Picked up my copy on the way into work thank you very much. The combat feels really good and the world looks fantastic. My only time hands on time has been with a demo where story and plot development would not have a chance to shine. It looks like that might be Reckoning’s one flaw but that shouldn’t stop you from playing it as the reviews suggest.

A lot of talk has been circulating on the internet recently with some of the leaked rumors for the next Xbox including a mechanism to prevent the play of used games. I have been reading others articles and thoughts on the matter and would like to weigh in on what I believe the truth likely is and where used and new game sales are heading.

More than one reviewer has suggested that this game will be the sleeper hit of 2012. While I believe it may have gotten more than it’s share of exposure to make it a standard sleeper, I believe it will far exceed most individuals expectations. So I guess I disagree and I firmly agree.

Potentially great news!!! Diablo III is heading to consoles. On one hand this makes the mega popular franchise available to an even larger base of players but on the other hand, as has been exposed by Skyrim’s interface issues, it offers the challenge of delivering a quality experience to both groups of users. I tend to believe that Blizzard respects their user experience more than some other companies which is what causes so many of their delays but being ever the cynic I always worry about the more drastic cross platform ports like this. Hopefully Blizzard can pull it off.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been super-popular - gameplay data has indicated that it has been the most-played game of the year. Unfortunately, Skyrim has also become synonymous with a number of glitches and gameplay issues. Rock Paper Shotgun breaks down what could be improved about Skyrim's gameplay, both technical and non-technical.

Not content with the content...
After putting nearly 40 hrs into The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and feeling like I have only begun to scratch the surface of the main stories and plot lines, it feels like this story is writing itself. I purchased this game for $59.99 plus tax on day one and feel like I not only got my money’s worth already, but that I owe some back. I paid this same price for most of the titles on my shelf as I play a lot of games and often grab them close to or on the day of release. The issue is, that the amount of content, the available customization tools and the overall quality of the story and gameplay are so high that it makes me question whether I should be paying more for Skyrim, or less for many of the other games. We obviously are hoping that the latter part of that statement is true.

Bethesda has unleashed upon the world, an RPG of epic proportions, determined to swallow every ounce of free time you might have once thought you had. Skyrim brings us a massive world to explore complete with free roaming Dragons and a rumored 300+ hours of play when tackling all of the side quests. Additionally it will be released with modding tools for the adventurous to create even more content should you ever actually find the time to need or want it. I believe that will be PC exclusive, so keep that in mind when making your platform purchase decision.

As a great man once said, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is, “The modernist of warfares”. This is the third iteration of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series set in a fictional modern era, pitting Soap and Price against the ‘Russian’ enemy. The game delivers about 6 to 8 hours of single player campaign and as expected delivers a great online multiplayer experience that will last as long as you keep playing it. It does not deviate or stray from it’s intended course and continues to deliver on what has made the franchise successful.

Dear readers, another victim has fallen to the might of the Madden Curse: Cleveland Browns RB Peyton Hillis, the winner of a controversial fan vote process to become the cover star of Madden '12, has been sidelined by a mysteriously troubling hamstring injury.
When will we band together and prevent our youth from falling victim to such a heinous fate?

Dark Souls is an action RPG from a company that is lesser known here in the states, FROM Software. If you have heard anything about this game, then you have probably heard that it is HARD. Not challenging, but downright hard and extremely unforgiving. In my opinion that does not detract from the games appeal, but in fact only adds to it. It is not unfair and that is important to understand. When you die you will know why.
