Multiple outlets are reporting that, contrary to earlier statements from Ubisoft, the PC version of From Dust is requiring an active internet connection every time the game launches.  There appears to be no definitive statement from Ubisoft as far as what DRM exists in the game or the fact that the PC version is also experiencing crippling framerate issues.

It continues to amaze me that in 2011 game studios, who have brought us some of the most innovative and engaging content we have ever experienced, cannot wrap their hands around a way to protect their games from piracy without punishing legitimate users.  As it has been said many times before, DRM does nothing to discourage piracy, as pirates have tools to break any DRM that exists on a game.  DRM only punishes legitimate users by making them jump through all kinds of ridiculous hoops in order to enjoy the content they paid for.
