I have known for some time that the Uncharted series was slated to be a movie. And I feel that it has good potential to be great. The Uncharted franchise is rich with good content and interesting characters, and is very reminiscent of the Indiana Jones franchise. And like the Indiana Jones franchise, its success is mainly due to its central character, Nathan Drake (it is no coincidence that his personality is based on Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis). So it goes without saying that the actor chosen for the role of Drake needs to be very good fit. For a period of time, it looked as if Mark Wahlberg was slated to be Drake, but recent events have reset everything, including who is to play Drake. And for a large part of us fans of the series, this is good news. Why? Well because in a good amount of our opinions, there is only one actor best suited for Drake’s role: Nathan Fillion. There are a lot of good reasons for this choice and I feel that Todd Kenreck covered them well in his video post on Wednesday. So I am just going to give you that video here...
There are several actors out there that are younger and look more like Nathan Drake, but I feel that what makes Drake stand out as a great character is his personality, and Fillion is a perfect fit there. Just to reinforce the point of this article, and if you have any doubt of the amount of people that feel the same way Todd and I do, do a Google image search for “Nathan Drake” and see how many pictures of Nathan Fillion come up right from the start. Will our hopes come to fruition? Who knows. One can dream though.
