Six armed Gods? Check.

Swords longer than planetary width? Check.

Anger/wrath that makes you grow six arms? Check.

Japanese storyline that defies sense or logic? Check.

I can only assume you are already downloading the demo after reading that. If you have not been swayed then please read on. You will be.

Asura's Wrath is a game that I have been keeping an eye on over the past year. Graphically it looks absolutely stunning and the gameplay trailers have made this games over the top scale of madness feel like a must play, if for nothing else the experience. What hasn't been clear up this point is exactly what the gameplay is. There have been trailers of Asura punching another god's planet sized finger with such ferocity that he shatters his six arms and fantastic fight scenes against 'heaven's soldiers' without any context of what capacity of control the player has in this experience.

With the game scheduled to be launched in February, the demo finally reveals the gameplay. It appears to be a mix of Quick Time Events and brawler combat like God of War; a sprinkling of reticle/targeting gameplay like you might see in Rez or Child of Eden; and some events that might play similar to a shoot'em up or a space harrier style. the demo is extremely short but I think it finally delivers us a glimpse of why Asura is so angry and how we can help him save his daughter. The game launches in North America on February 21, 2012.
