ChargePoint-WalnutCreek1_424x318

A national project funded by the Department of Energy will bring 150 electric vehicle charging stations to the greater Boston area.  The charging stations will be installed within the 495 beltway, and members of the ChargePoint program will be able to use mobile apps to locate their nearest charging station.  The company deploying the technology, Coulomb Technologies, is partnering with electric vehicle makers to ensure the success of the program.

Yes No I read a while back in Pop Science I believe that there is tech to make solar panels which can be driven on. the logic of course is to cover parking lots in these and attach them to the stations. Then a WalMart or McDonalds could cover lot and roof with panels, go off the grid and offer a "Value Add" Type service for people to stop in and charge. And hey while you are charging, come in and shop/eat....

Yes No That is a good question. I find it hard to imagine companies offering this up for free. Maybe to employees (like garage parking spaces), but in general seems unlikely.

Yes No Are there any charges for these stations? I would assume there has to be? Do you know what the charges are and how they compare to gas prices?
