BostInnovation reports that Akamai's recent State of the Internet report ranks four New England states among the top 10 states for internet connectivity in the United States.

Rhode Island ranks 2nd with an average connection speed of 6.9 Mbps, Vermont and Massachusetts ranked 5th and 6th respectively at 6.0 Mbps, while New Hampshire ranks 9th at 5.8 Mbps.  Delaware was first on the list with an average speed of 7.2 Mbps.

The Boston Metro area ranked at #5 among U.S. Metro areas with an average Mbps of 6.70.  Riverside CA was first on the list at 7.58 Mbps.

Globally, South Korea and the city of Taegu in South Korea ranked first on the national and metropolitan area speed rankings.  South Korea's average connection speed was 13.70 Mbps.
